The Shop

The shop
The shop is located by the main reception desk at Kempston Road entrance and offers a range of gifts, cards, message balloons, newspapers, magazines, soft toys, groceries and toiletries. The shop is open from 7am to 8pm Monday to Friday. On weekends, the shop is open from 2pm to 6pm, with confectionary, drinks and weekend papers available to buy in the Swannery restaurant from 9am.

BumpsnBabes Store

Bumpsnbabes store BumpsnBabes is a family run baby shop is situated in the entrance of the Cygnet Wing at Bedford Hospital. The shop sells everything you may need during your stay in the maternity unit such as tiny baby clothing, gifts, equipment, teddy bears, toiletries, nappies, baby toiletries, nursing pillows and a wide range of baby products. BumpsnBabes also have a 3500sq ft showroom situated in Sharnbrook, Bedford MK44 1PU 01234 781396 www.bumpsnbabes.com


Cash Machine

Cash Machine There is a LINK cash machine located at the Kempston Road entrance of Bedford Hospital. This machine will not charge you for making withdrawals.

Patient Gardens

garden There are three patient gardens on the Trust site for patients and visitors to relax in and enjoy. Please ask the ward clerk or receptionist for the closest garden.

Faith & Belief Room

Faith and Belief Room
The Faith & Belief Room can be found on the corridor leading up from the Britannia Road entrance. This is a quiet space where all can come to pray, reflect or sit quietly. There are candles to light for your loved ones and prayer cards which can be taken away as well as a book to write your prayer requests in. It is open 24 hours a day and is used by patients, relatives, carers and staff.

The Carers Lounge

The Carers Lounge
The Carers Lounge offers a friendly and welcoming place where carers can go for support and information.
This facility is run by Carers In Bedfordshire, a registered charity that exists to help family carers and former carers cope with the mental and physical stress arising from the role. They support anyone who cares for a friend or relative who is ill, who has a learning or physical disability, or who suffers from substance misue.
There is a full-time coordinator who is joined throughout the week by other support workers who can offer specialist advice in areas such as benefits and welfare rights or caring for someone with mental health issues.
The Lounge can be found on the ground floor, just off the main corridor, by following the sings to the Committee Room. It is staffed Monday to Friday, from 11am-6pm.



The Swannery

The Swannery The Swannery is the main restaurant on site and is located along the main corridor, near the Kempston Road entrance to the hospital. The Swannery is open from 7.30am-4.30pm Monday-Friday, and from 9am-5pm on the weekend. The Swannery offers a range of hot meals, hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, and snacks. Children’s portions and highchairs are also available.


Le Bistro

A selection from The Bistro's menu Le Bistro is the hospital café which is situated along the main corridor, opposite The Swannery. Le Bistro offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere to enjoy a hot or cold drink, continental pastries, filled baguettes, soups or the ‘hot dish of the day’ Le Bistro is open from 8.30am-5pm Monday to Thursday, and 8.30am-4.30pm on Fridays.

Vending Machines

Vending machine There are vending machines offering snacks, sandwiches and hot and cold drinks located outside the outpatients department, and outside the lifts to the main ward block. There also some coffee machines available in outpatients clinics.
