The Patient Council offers patients and local people the chance to get more actively involved in the hospital and the care and services we provide.
The Patient Council is chaired by the Director of Support Services, and reports to the Trust’s Quality Board.
As a member of the Patient Council you will be invited to:
- Attend regular meetings to receive information and to discuss changes in the way care and services are provided
- Be consulted on changes and developments at the Trust
- Join focus and review groups on specific services or issues such as PLACE (Patient-Led Assessment of the Care Environment)
The Patient Council covers a range of important topics such as:
- Care and compassion
- Privacy and discharge
- Patient enironment
- Discharge and aftercare
- Patient information

Please note that the Patient Council is limited to 30 councillors, and therefore applications to join will only be processed if there are spaces. If there are no spaces you will be informed and you will be invited to join at a later date once a space becomes available.
The Trust strives to ensure membership of the council is representative of the local population (Bedford Borough/ Central Bedfordshire) and we welcome applicaitons from all backgrounds.
