Incident Status:
The sexual health clinic at Bedford Hospital is based in Bridge House, opposite the main South Wing site near Britannia Road car park and offers Genito-Urinary Medicine (GUM) services. The department is run by Geraldine Fletcher, senior nurse manager and has two consultants: Dr Basavaraj and Dr Shanmugaratnam.
This clinic is an open access service, this means that you do not need to be referred by a GP, you can make an appointment for yourself, or use one of the walk-in clinics.
The clinic is open to all ages and is completely confidential. Separate medical records are kept in the department and information regarding self-referred attendance is not made known to GPs.
Most clinics are by appointment only, you can make an appointment for yourself by phoning 01234 792146, any urgent cases will be seen on the same day.
