Tavistock Day Surgery unit consists of 25 trolley spaces, a nurse led pre-assessment clinic and an admission on day of surgery lounge. This unit gives pre and post operative care for orthopaedic, general surgery, ear, nose and throat (ENT), oral maxillo facial and gynaecology patients.

When patients arrive on the unit they will be greeted at reception and shown to their trolley space, here they will be seen by an anaesthetist and a surgeon and will also have to opportunity to ask any questions. Patients are then asked to wait in the reception area until they are prepared for theatre.  Following their operation patients will be admitted to one of the inpatient wards for their recovery.

Visiting Times

The unit has open visiting arrangements, however will only permit one visitor per patient. Relatives are advised to allow the patient to have a period of recovery following their procedure and children are discouraged from visiting the unit.

Please be aware that, for health and safety reasons, flowers and plants are not permitted on the ward.
