Richard Wells ward is situated on the first floor of the main ward block. The ward consists of 27 beds and specialises in respiratory medicine and care of the elderly. Clinical staff of the ward include: doctors, sisters, staff nurses, health care assistances (HCAs) and occupational therapists.

When you arrive on the ward, you will be greeted by one of the nurses. Once you have had your observations recorded, you and your relative will be orientated to the ward and given the opportunity to ask any questions.

Visiting Times

Visiting times on the ward are 2pm to 4.30pm and 6.15pm to 8.15pm. Visiting is not permitted between 4.15pm and 6.30pm unless by prior arrangement and agreement with ward staff. This is to ensure patients have uninterrupted time in which to eat their evening meal. To find out more visit the  protected mealtimes section of the website. All visiting outside designated visiting hours must be agreed with the nurse in charge.

Please be aware that, for health and safety reasons, flowers and plants are not permitted on the ward, and only two visitors are permitted per bed.

If you would like to assist with the care of your relative outside of normal visiting hours, please speak to the nurse in charge.
