Medical Institute
Bedford Medical Institute is an on-campus education centre and conference facility at Bedford Hospital, serving NHS staff, students and patients to improve healthcare.
We plan and promote specialist medical, dental, general practice and multi-disciplinary education and learning within the Trust and surrounding area and also on a regional and national level and aim to provide the direction, support and infrastructure to facilitate the education, training and continuing professional development of health care professionals.
The medical institute consists of a Postgraduate Education Centre equipped with integrated audio-visual equipment in a number of teaching rooms, and a new Clinical Skills Centre with a wide range of manikins for learning clinical skills in a virtual clinical environment. In addition the Bevan Library has a wide range of books and journals, many on-line, which are available to all NHS staff and students.
Classes for Patients
The Postgraduate Education Centre is the venue for a variety of patient education classes including
· Pre-Operative Hip and Knee Patient Classes led by the Physiotherapy Team
· Pelvic Floor patient Education Classes led by the Physiotherapy Team
· Breastfeeding Drop-in Sessions for Mothers and Babies led by the Midwifery Team
· Counterweight - Weight Management Classes led by the Dietetics Team.
