Folwell ward is a six-bed short-stay observation ward situated in the accident and emergency department.

The ward is staffed by A&E nurses and the majority of patients will remain under the care of the A&E consultant. The ward cares for patients who require a 24-hour observation period following a head injury, overdose or other minor injury or procedure, and patients who are awaiting an inpatient bed or specialist review.

Visiting Times

Visiting times on the ward are 2pm to 4.30pm and 6.15pm to 8.15pm. Visiting is not permitted between 4.15pm and 6.30pm unless by prior arrangement and agreement with ward staff. This is to ensure patients have uninterrupted time in which to eat their evening meal.
