Estate Management

The estate management department is responsible for providing a wide range of professional building & engineering services, including:

  • Planning, design, construction and commissioning of capital developments
  • Appointment of architects, surveyors and contractors
  • Undertaking of building and engineering schemes and improvements
  • Statutory maintenance of buildings, engineering plant and systems
  • Fire safety management relating to the built environment
  • Land and property management
  • Management of utilities contracts and energy monitoring
  • Green travel plan
  • Medical device management
  • Management of the Trust maintenance team.

The department is best known for its involvement with the development of new facilities for the Trust; these may be brand new builds or refurbishments of existing buildings. The department is also involved in maintaining and improving vital services for the hospital such as the electricity supply infrastructure, security and fire alarm systems, and heating, cooling and ventilation systems. Underpinning all developments is the Trust’s Estate Strategy, a document that sets out a road-map for development of the estate based on current drivers for change such as the shift in emphasis from secondary to primary care, and the “Investing in your Health” strategy.
